Ever since you aced the tie-dye lesson in art class with your masterpiece of a tee, you’ve been teacher’s pet.
Continue your legacy at Workshop PHL.
Kelly Malone built a following at her San Francisco make-and-take mecca, but after years on the West Coast, she longed to return to her home turf. She’s been back in town for just a few months and is already convincing bartenders and creatives to play instructor for a day at her Fishtown learning space.
Get schooled on everything from indie businesses to product photography. Try the Mad Men cocktail-making class — a staple on the schedule — to master muddling and Manhattans. Malone provides most supplies (including sewing machines), so you can just show up. For a free preview, drop in on First Fridays.
She’s still busy setting up shop but promises a beer-stocked fridge and records, so students can select mood music during class.
Smart idea.
Workshop PHL, 11 West Girard Avenue (415-852-2402 or workshopphl.org); classes start at $38.
