All work and no play have your happiness level at an all-time low.
Score good times at brand-new barcade EightyTwo.
Owners Scott Davids and Noah Sutcliffe filled 5,700 square feet of prime Arts District real estate with more than 40 classic video games (restored by Davids himself) and pinball machines from the ’60s through the ’90s. An on-site repair room guarantees crowd favorites are never out of service for long.
Gaming nerds and booze hounds find common ground in star mix master Billy Ray’s (13-Stitches) themed potions, such as Princess Peach (vodka, lemon, agave, peach puree, raspberry) and P.O.W. (rum, Thai iced tea, condensed milk, bitters); Lamill Coffee-infused The Dude (vodka, gum syrup, cold-brew coffee, cream float) is best nursed on the outdoor patio.
Rest your drink on custom Darin Johnstone-designed game-side tables (the architect is also responsible for the recycled paper bar and DJ booth) while trying your hand at Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, and Centipede (the first arcade game designed by a woman). Or challenge three of your most nimble-handed pals to a Gauntlet face-off.
They don’t call it a joystick for nothing.
