Remember that hush-hush project Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig premiered at TIFF? This is it. Gerwig and Mickey Sumner lead the rhapsody in black and white as best friends (who more resemble an old lesbian couple who don’t have sex) living aimlessly in Brooklyn. Though it’s an homage of sorts (to French new wave, Woody Allen), it’s so funny and original even Hannah Horvath would hahaha.
It’s like: Girls on the outskirts of Manhattan.
Take: A flair for the nostalgic.
Premieres: May 17
