Screen Play: May’s Must-See Movies

Our 11 favorite films this month

The Kings of Summer

High schooler Joe Toy’s sick of Dad’s (Nick Offerman) rules, so he and two friends hatch a plan to live in the wild. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts plucked his leading trio out of teenage wasteland, put ’em in the woods, and said “Action.” The result: a somewhat-improvised coming-of-age tale with texture, style, and natural beauty.
It’s like: Youth in Revolt meets Stand by Me.
Take: Kids at heart.
Premieres: May 31
