Real talk: You can’t cook for s#!t.

Skin care recipes are another story. Whip up foolproof face masks and detoxifying body wraps with Angel Face Botanicals founder Jessica Ress’s new book, 100 Organic Skin Care Recipes.

With simple instructions, basic tools, and as few as two ingredients, the recipes are hard to mess up. Below, Ress shares her vitamin C-packed lemon poppy seed scrub. It exfoliates, stimulates collagen production, lightens dark spots, strengthens skin, and looks good enough to eat. (But we don’t recommend that.)

Lemon Poppy Seed Scrub
Makes approximately 8 oz.

Ingredients
2 tbsp. poppy seeds
½ c. granulated sugar
Dash of ground cardamom
Zest of ½ lemon
¼ c. grapeseed oil
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice

1. Place poppy seeds, sugar, cardamom, and lemon zest in a medium-size mixing bowl.

2. Add the oil and mix together with a fork until you have a uniform consistency.

3. Add the lemon juice and stir well to blend.

4. Use in place of a soap or body wash in your shower or bath. Using small, circular motions, massage scrub into legs and arms, making your way up to the torso, and ending at your heart. Rinse well.

Storage: To preserve freshness, keep the scrub away from water. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator and use within a week.
